‘Pass it, Scott! … Go on, good boy, pass it … For **!!//@@**’s sake PASS it, Scott!’

‘Little beggar’

A comprehensive display against a team of only ten men who had conceded 28 goals in the previous three games.

The game was still young when Jon Bn collected the ball and, after some lovely footwork, laid it off for Hassie  to toe punt over the advancing keeper, 1-0.

Next Rupert  put a great cross in for Hassie, Lewis  and Will  to pass beautifully between them and Jon Bn to flick just wide. It was all us, and goal number two was a carbon copy of the first, with Jon setting up Hassie for a lovely touch past the keeper, 2-0.

Soon after Rupert let fly with an audacious long range shot which the keeper spilled and Jon Bn smashed it off the underside of the bar. Then joint Man of the Match Scott collected the ball, nipped past half the defence and poked the ball in for goal number three. Half-time.

The second half brought more of the same. Fellow Man of the Match Eddie  was dominant in midfield and it was soon 4-0 when, after a super Steve  corner, Scott slotted home to cheers from the supporters (and moans from his dad – Scott was on a money-for-goals contract).

Next Rupert hit the post from 25 yards and we were completely in charge, with Theo  in defence absolutely immense, clearly completely recovered from his nightmarish period out with a slipped disc the previous season.

The fifth goal was another peach. Rupert put over a fantastic cross from just over the half-way line out on the right, all the way across to Scott on the far post, who headed sweetly in, 5-0.

On the odd occasion James O in goal was called upon, he was always cool under pressure, and there was just time for Rupert to hit the post again, before the whistle blew for full-time. Good stuff.
