‘Not feeling too good. Had some custard just before the game.’ - Eddie

The performance of the season! The boys at last played to their full potential and got a deserved point from the team tipped by many to win the championship this year.

From the off the boys were full of fight, urged on by captain Jonathan Bk in inspirational mode, flanked by joint Man of the Match Daryl, who was simply impassable down the left side. Fellow Man of the Match Tom B too, was in superb form and full of running throughout the game.

In midfield Jonathan Bt, Eddie and Will  were making superb, neat triangles and Mike Lloyd in goal was in brilliant form, especially in one-on-one situations, with Josh on hand to clear as needed.

The boys were terribly unlucky to concede a goal with literally the last kick of the first half and, shortly after the restart, crucial defender Kirk  had to come off with swollen knees and ended up at the Royal Surrey A&E.

Nobody’s head went down, though, and the boys carried on, with Daryl playing out of his skin and Jon Bk playing a fine captain’s role, making us really solid at the back.

Just as we were starting to show some fatigue, Rupert let fly a free kick, the keeper fumbled it – and there was Will  following up to slot home. 1-1 and the pressure was really on, but however hard Hersham pressed they couldn’t break through, and the chaps contained them doggedly for a hard won and thoroughly deserved point.
